Gypsy premieres August 11th at Ravinia
August 10th, 2006 by MeaganStarting Friday, August 11th, singing actress Patti LuPone will be playing Mama Rose in Gypsy, a book by Arthur Laurents. For three days straight, audiences from all around will have a chance to see this remarkable actress, in the role of a lifetime. Tickets start at just $10 for a lawn seat, and go up to $90 for a high-quality pavilion seat. Starting at 7:30 p.m., audiences can engage in the music of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra while enjoying the bedazzlement of Patti LuPone.
Those who attend the Friday showing can catch a special apperance from Stephen Sondheim himself. He will be engaging in a pre-concert discussion with Ravinia president and CEO Welz Kauffman at 6:45 in the Martin Theatre. Tickets for this discussion will be on a first come first served basis.
Patti LuPone’s performance as Mama Rose has created a lot of hype from critics all over. This is coined as a performance of a lifetime and can’t be missed.
