Tonight is the night that many Ravinia-goers have been waiting for. It’s not everyday you get to see Lyle Lovett in concert, especially at Ravinia. Come on, who wouldn’t enjoy watching and listening to Julia Roberts former fling? Lovett is a four-time Grammy winner who has made a recent crossover from country to pop. People really enjoy his music, although I’m not quite sure if I’ve even heard any new music from him. But that’s all the more reason to go and check it out. Lawn tickets are still available for $15. The show starts at 8 p.m. and includes his large band. This should make for a great Friday night event, so be sure to go!

Summer is over, and the year is drawing to an end. Well, for Ravinia anways. With September just a few days away, the end of Ravinia is only a few short weeks away. But Ravinia isn’t going out quietly. No, Ravinia is holding out on some of the best concerts and events in order to go out with a bang. With concerts such as Tony Bennett, Cheap Trick, Lyle Lovitt and Hootie and the Blowfish, everyone is sure to have a good time. There are a few more Beethoven’s Sonata’s left, Martini’s at the Martin, Dance Festivals and Music theatre workshops. As the air turns cooler, the heat turns up at Ravinia.
Not only will Ravinia go out with a bang, but they have also recently announced the big event for Ravinia 2007. Placido Domingo will headline the Ravinia Women’s Board Gala on August 4th, 2007, which means you have less than a full year to mark your calendars for this special event. He will perform with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducted by James Colon for an amazing show.

B.B. King’s performance at Ravinia this past weekend was proof enough that he’s still got it. Who cares that this was his 80th birthday bash and who cares about his plans for retirement. Do care about the amazing crowd he drew, to their feet nonetheless, and do care about the amazing sound he still has. Do care that he acted nothing like he was 80 years old, almost 81. His performance was nothing short of amazing. Which in turn, led to another amazing Ravinia experience. Playing to more than 16,000 Ravinia-goers, King’s performance this past weekend was one of the most mind-blowing performances he has given in Chicago ever before. Playing a variety of blue’s music, King impressed the crowd with his extreme guitar-playing skills, proving that he is still the King of blues.
